Biography

The Washington Wild Things acquired Gerard Haran in an August 2008 trade from the Newark Bears of the Atlantic League. With Newark, he batted .278 in 41 games in 2008. He recorded 37 hits and 25 RBI in 133 at bats as a first baseman with the Bears, and added 4 homeruns.

Gerard split 2007 with the Gulf Coast League Cardinals and St. George of the Golden League. He had 5 hits in 21 at bats with St. George before catching the eye of St. Louis Cardinals' scouts. He recorded 6 hits in 31 at bats with 1 homerun with the GCL Cards.

Gerard played his college baseball at the College of New Jersey, where he was a three-time First Team All-American in NCAA Division III, including being named National Division III Player of the Year in 2006. While at TCNJ, he broke four offensive records including doubles (58), home runs (49), RBI (215), and runs scored (184).
